Windswept Dunes
Freeport, FL • Public
Overview
About 30 miles northeast of Destin, Windswept Dunes plays through white sand dunes that give this Northwest Florida track a unique feel. Windswept Dunes is second-shot golf course, as the fairways are extremely wide, while the approaches can be a little more demanding. The layout plays over 750 acres and has a more rural feel than many of the resort courses along the Gulf Coast.

“Hidden gem" is often overused but not in the case of Windswept Dunes. In the NW part of Florida, where golf is often overpriced, this course is well worth the daily fee. In my opinion, it is as good or better as any course in the Destin area. It is only 20 minutes or so north of Hwy 98. Excellent design with many tee box options. Highly recommend."

“If you are in the rough on this course, you deserve what you get, because the fairways are wide enough to land a 747 on them...but good bunkering and fairway routing forces a need to think strategically about where you want to play your next shot. It only seems fair that missing the greens are a tough up and down. Pace of play is good, and the course is uncrowded, and just tough enough to keep your attention. Greens are firm and fast, but receptive to well played shots and the fairways play fast as well."
