Tiger Woods seen juggling balls on Liberty National range, golf fans lose their minds
It’s been five months since we’ve seen Tiger Woods with a golf club in his hand. After withdrawing from the Masters back in April, Woods underwent a subtalar fusion to his right ankle, ending his major season (effectively just his “his season” at this point). Since then, golf fans have had plenty to talk about—a shocking PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger, Michael Block, Ryder Cup captain's picks—but we’ve kept one eye on Woods on the whole time, wondering when we would see him on the golf course again.
On Tuesday at the Nexus Cup, we got the closest thing to an authentic Tiger sighting yet when Woods appeared on the Liberty National range, juggling golf balls alongside Rickie Fowler and fellow surgery rehabber Will Zalatoris. Freakout commence.
According to the boots on the ground, Woods wasn’t taking full cuts yet, but the sight of him on the range hitting a couple one-handed chips and goofing around was enough to send every Tiger fanatic in the solar system running for a cold shower. We have no idea where Woods takes things from here. Maybe he’s ramping up for the PNC Championship with son Charlie in December. Maybe he’ll be on the lam until the Masters. Maybe this is the best we get. Regardless, if the man so much as sneezes within 100 yards of a golf course over the next nine months, we’ll make sure you hear about it.
