Overview
Built in a 250-acre meadow beneath the Grand Teton Mountains and its ski runs, Shooting Star is a core-golf layout with no housing. Its opening nine running counterclockwise around the perimeter of the site and its incoming nine clockwise through the interior. The flat land was re-sculpted into hills and valleys, then lightly planted with aspens and evergreens. Water hazards, in the form of 50 acres of lakes, ponds and a canal reshaped into a stream, affect play on 13 of the 18 holes. The club displays green sketches of all 18 in the clubhouse, each signed by Fazio, and the notations on them reflect some of Fazio’s design instructions, such as “Make sure bunker right of green feels real intimate with the stream,” “Create a flash in the left central back portion of the green to help slow down long iron shots,” and “No bunkers in front of green to entice better players to pull out driver from the tee.”

“Awesome Fazio. The course is almost as good as the views of the ski slopes. Can be very intimidating, but the altitude helps with what looks like a massive course. Ask your caddie how many celebs he/she has caddied for!"

“Shooting star lived up to and exceeded the hype that I have heard. The property is in an unbelievable setting as it sits right in teton village and beneath the Jackson Hole Ski Resort. I was very surprised to hear that much of the water on the course was man-made because it looks so natural and native to the location. Fazzio did an incredible job with the layout and allowing it to feel like the natural landscape vs a bulldozed course. The conditions were as good as I've seen, with carpet-like fairways, and firm, fast, yet receptive greens. I did notice that the course seems to favor a draw quite strongly (which luckily enough I hit), with most of the doglegs being to the left. The layout variety was strong with shorter and longer par 3s and par 4s, which kept things interesting."

“Beautiful setting in the Teton Mountain Range. Overcast day made the colors pop and made for a stunning backdrop to play a round of golf. Even with the mountains as a backdrop, this course is walkable and has no housing encroaching the course. Conditions were firm and fast with drives bounding down the fairways. Greens were receptive to well struck iron shots. The greens rolled pure and had good pace. Course was well balanced with short vs. long holes, uphill vs. downhill shots and holes that moved both directions."

“Remarkable what Tom Fazio has done with this property. Remarkable setting, with traditions of the game available. My caddie experience here has been as good as any location i have visited."
