Overview
Often overshadowed by its sibling Plantation course (annual host of the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions), Kapalua’s Bay course holds its own, having hosted PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events, as well as the 1998 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links. The Arnold Palmer design treats golfers to stunning views, including at the signature par-3 17th, which plays directly over the ocean.

“Kapalua Bay doesn't seem to have the best reputation, but I was glad that I played it. I found the opening stretch to include a lot of good golf. The ocean par three is memorable, but the holes getting down and back are the weakest on the course."

“If you have the time and money, go ahead and play this golf course. It is an Arnold Palmer design with several classic holes reminding us of his style. It is a very pretty golf course, lots of wonderful views too."

“Not the course it used to be. The Plantation course has sucked up a lot of the oxygen. The Bay course is in need of a refresh badly. Looking its age. However, you're on Maui, so you need to put that in perspective and enjoy the weather and the scenery. The fourth hole over the ocean comes a little early in the round, but always a highlight."

“This should not make your short list of courses to play on the island. Yet it is a fun course in decent shape with some nice holes near the ocean. It has a killer par three along the ocean's edge."

“The golf course is pretty good, however a bit ordinary in today's resort lineup. The service is excellent (Kapalua still has the best service in Hawaii). The practice facility is a big letdown and the clubhouse is a bit dated, but still works with a good pro shop and an excellent bar for after golf drinks. There is talk that the clubhouse will be moving to the old Village Course clubhouse and develop a new layout. This will help tick some of the boxes, but the golf course could still use a refresh."
