J.R. Smith makes first hole-in-one, celebrates accordingly

December 08, 2023

There has been a LOT going on in the golf world this week, from Jon Rahm flip-flopping to an equipment rollback to even one of the most bizarre trades in sports history. But we're glad to bring you a story everyone can get behind: a golfer making his first career hole-in-one.

And not just any golfer, but a celebrity golfer and the country's most beloved college golfer. That's right, J.R. Smith finally dunked one. Off the tee, that is.

Not surprisingly, there's great footage of the former NBA star celebrating like he just won another championship ring. As we saw with Dywane Wade earlier this year at Pebble Beach, no matter how much else you've accomplished, that first ace is a BIG deal. (Not that I would know from personal experience.) Anyway, have a look:

Unfortunately, there's no footage of the actual shot, but it's great to see the hooper get so hyped up.

"I was going to get rid of this 56," Smith says of the wedge he used to make the ace. "But I need it!"

Yeah, J.R., you might want to hold onto that club for a while. That's a keeper. And so is that golf ball. Congrats.
