Grayhawk Golf Club: Talon
Scottsdale, AZ • Public
Overview
Designed by two-time major champion David Graham and golf course architect Gary Panks, the Talon is one of two courses at Grayhawk. A challenging layout that plays just shy of 7,000 yards, it requires precision off the tee and into these well-guarded greens. It also boasts beautiful views of the McDowell Mountains and the Phoenix and Scottsdale skylines.

“Very fun, target golf. Some really great short par 4s and par 3s."

“Tough course; tight off the tee, many good shots are punished and run off into desert never to be seen again. Greens are very firm and don't hold shots well--need to bounce balls on in many cases for front pins. Expect some roll in fairways and on greens. Well conditioned, good variety, good playing environment--just not much fun if your swing isn't perfect on every hole."

“Doesn't have as many houses in view as the Raptor course, but a notch below the Raptor in terms of design and shot values. The predecessor to the WGC Dell Matchplay was played here in the 1990s - Barry Lane of England won it.The Talon course bascially looks the same as it did back then. Was also the first site of the Tiger Woods' World Challenge 20 years ago."

“Lesser known than it's neighbor, the Talon Course provides great views of the surrounding McDowell mountains. There is a premium on positioning but of course a little more length is always appreciated coming into large undulating greens. Get to the tee on the drivable par 4 13th, Heaven or Hell, and give it a go!"

“Great desert golf. Course is challenging from back and much easier the farther up you play. Range with Rock music is a plus."

“Private club experience for a resort golf facility...Phil's (Mickelson) Grille has great food, great views. No non-golf services, but pro shop is very nice with wide variety of products."
