Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa: Dinosaur Mountain
Gold Canyon, AZ • Public
Overview
Just over a half hour east of Scottsdale, the Dinosaur Mountain course at Gold Canyon is a quality public track with some dramatic elevation changes. Numerous tee shots play significantly downhill and provide beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Interestingly, there are six par 3s on the par-70 layout. Occasionally overlooked due to its distance from Scottsdale, Dinosaur Mountain has all the intriguing qualities of desert golf, making it worth the drive.

“Don't let first impressions fool you. Based on the poor driving range, you might think you just landed at a low-end muny. But when you start playing golf, you realize that you've actually landed on a special course. This is a wild ride, with major elevation changes, spectacular desert scenery, rock outcroppings, etc. And for the most part, the course is fair—well-struck shots are rewarded. It's also possible to go low here, not because the course is easy, but because good shots give you birdie opportunities. A fun course for golfers of all skill levels."

“Super fun course. There are two courses at the facility, but definitely play the Dinosaur course over the sidewinder course. Lots of fun tee shots and a fair, but yet challenging course for all types of players"

“First 7 holes are great. Course becomes very poor after hole 7; very residential and conditioning drops significantly."

“If you think the drive from Scotsdale is to far, it isn't. This is plain and simply a great golf course. It has an elevated par 3 that will make you woozy just thinking about it. Meandering along the Superstion Mountains this course will wow you at every turn. It's not overly long bust presents a manageable challenge that will leave you content with your game. The food isn't anything to write home about, but hopefully you didn't take the drive from Scotsdale for a burger. Bring your camera and range finder (with slope) and em straight!"
