Tiger Woods returned to competitive play in December at the Hero World Challenge and PNC Championship, but there was a recent non-playing appearance from the 15-time major winner that caught our fashion attention.
In November Woods toured his El Cardonal at Diamante course in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, looking confident and relaxed, in the lead up to the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship at the venue. Though reportedly only there to tour the greens, he dressed to play; sporting a light pink Nike polo, matching black trousers and cap, as well as a pair of Costa sunglasses with bright blue lenses and a matte black frame, which, if you’re looking to match Tiger’s chill, sporty vibes, are currently retailing at $50 off.
The model Tiger sported is the brand’s “Diego” design, named for a favorite fishing spot in California. The sunglasses are designed for serious performance: the frame’s durable coating helps to resist scratches and dinks, which, when partnered with the vented design, will hold up to the cocktail of sweat, sunscreen, dirt, or oil you may put them through. Stylistically, the electric neon mirror lenses look like you mean business, but behind the blue, the glasses absorb the sun’s rays, even in bright light conditions, to maximize safety and visibility, meaning you’ll be able to read the greens and navigate the hazards—while keeping delicate eye areas covered—better than your opponents (friends). In terms of shape, these glasses are wide, perfect for those who look for shades that offer more coverage and won’t apply too much pressure around the temples. (For a style in a narrower fit, we recommend checking out the Fantail.)
The glasses come in seven color ways in addition to Tiger’s blue, including a copper look or an iridescent green. The sunglasses usually retail at $294, but are now on sale for $223. And if you want to complete the whole Tiger-approved fashion set, you can.
